Kareem Iliya was born in Lebanon in 1967 and studied fashion design in Texas and New York. He works with watercolours and ink to create those beautiful illustrations. His playing with contrasts and the colour gradient in his work are stunning!
Btw, I really need a book about "Fashion illustration". Do you have any recommendations?


Kareem Iliya wurde 1967 im Libanon geboren und studierte später Modedesign in Texas und New York. Er benutzt Wasserfarben und Tinte für seine Werke. Mir gefallen besonders die Kontraste und Farbverläufe der Bilder. Da fällt mir ein: Ich brauche umbedingt ein Buch über "Fashion Illustration". Könnt ihr mir was empfehlen?

Converse celebrates its 100th birthday by teaming up with 100 artists. The result is the special edition "1HUND(RED)". The individually created designs will cost around 90 € and 10% of the sales price will be donated to global programms against AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.

Like most of you (I guess) I like reading and gazing at beautiful pictures/photography. Obviously, coffee-table books satisfy those passions of mine perfectly and I started to collect them a while ago. The topics of my choice are (of course) fashion, art, architecture and the like. All the coffee-table books I possess so far are from TASCHEN because I get good value for my money. Of course, there are other publishers which sell good illustrated books for a small price like Phaidon and Dumont which are on my other wishlists:) A few weeks ago, I received the new brochure from TASCHEN which reminds me of all the books I still want to get from TASCHEN.

Here are some upcoming titles:
- "Soul i-D" an "All-star contributions from the best creative minds of our time. The best of i-D's special projects including contributions from artists and designers such as David LaChapelle, John Galliano, Sam Taylor-Wood, Juergen Teller, and Terry Richardson. Soul i-D is a 600-page visual anthology of ideas and images featuring personal insights and contributions from some of the most creative names in contemporary fashion, music, art, and design." Which coffee-table books do you have or like to have? I'm thankful for any recommendations!


Wie (wahrscheinlich) die meisten von euch, lese ich gern und schau mir gern Bilder/Fotos an. Beides vereint findet man in Bildbänden und deshalb hab ich irgendwann eine kleine Leidenschaft für diese entwickelt. Meine bevorzugtenThemen sind natürlich Mode, Kunst Architektur etc. Die Bildbände, die ich bisher besitze sind vom TASCHEN Verlag, weil dort das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis meiner Meinung nach stimmt und die Themenauswahl mir sehr entgegen kommt. Natürlich gibt es noch andere Verlage wie Dumont oder Phaidon, bei denen das auch so ist, aber die stehen auf einer anderen Wunschliste:) Vor kurzem landete der neue Katalog von TASCHEN in meinem Briefkasten und das erinnerte mich an meine lange TASCHEN-Bücherwunschliste.

Hi guys! It's me again:)
As most of you have noticed, it's time for the cruise collections (or resort collections) again!
Dior, Fendi, Oscar de la Renta and Chanel showed their pieces during the last two days.
To be honest: I'm quite dissapointed by most of the clothing!
John Galliano designed very colourful but tacky dresses for Dior, while Fendi showed some ok but boring pieces.
While I would describe me as some kind of Chanel-Fan (if I could afford it), Lagerfeld's Cruise Collection was not very thrilling! Of course we saw Chanel's signature colours black and white and some pastels which isn't a bad thing but the shapes and cuts were not really inspiring for me.
Fortunately, Oscar de la Renta didn't fail to elate me! He combined vivid colours with clean-but-non-boring cuts and showed cute hats. His blue-and-green combos are absolutely great! The bf always laughs at me when I'm wearing this colour combination:)


Hi Leute! Ich bins endlich mal wieder!
Wie ihr wahrscheinlich längst bemerkt habt, zeigen die Designer im Moment wieder ihre Cruise bzw. Resort Kollektionen.
Was Dior, Fendi, Chanel und Oscar de la Renta bisher dargeboten haben lässt mich leider nicht in ekstatische Freudenstänze verfallen!
John Galliano designte für Dior zwar sehr farbenfrohe, aber geschmacklos wirkende Kleider, während Fendis Sachen zwar ok, aber ziemlich langweilig anmuten.
Obwohl ich mich selber als sowas wie ein Chanel-Fan bezeichnen würden (wenn ich denn das nötige Kleingeld hätte), hat mich Kaiser Karl diesmal nicht sehr beeindruckt! Die Kollektion ist in den typischen Chanel-Farben Schwarz und Weiß (sowie einigen Pasteltönen) gehalten, was an sich keine schlechet Sache ist, aber irgendwie fehlt den Stücken/Schnitten das gewisse Etwas.
Zum Glück hebt sich Oscar de la Rentas Kollektion von den anderen positiv ab! Hier sehen wir lebendige Farben toll kombiniert und dazu cleane Schnitte, die trotzdem nicht langweilig wirken. Außerdem gefallen mir die Hüte und seine Blau-Grün Kombinationen besonders gut! Wenn ich diese Farbkombi trage werde ich von meinem Freund nur belächelt.

Yes, I know. I didn't post one look per week lately but today I present you this beautiful lady photographed by Garance Doré. Her blazer mixes school uniform style with maritime elements. The dress and the ballet flats are very romantic and maiden-like while the colour of her bag echoes the red of her lips. And this hair colour is so ethereal!

Ja ja, ich weiß. In letzter Zeit habe ich nicht jede Woche einen Look gezeigt, aber dieser hier ist so toll, dass er für alles entschädigt, finde ich. Dieses schöne Outfit wurde von Garance Doré fotografiert. Der Blazer erinnert mich an einen Mix aus Schuluniform und Marine. Das Kleid und die weißen Ballerinas wirken mädchenhaft verspielt, während die Farbe ihrer Tasche in ihrem Lippenstift wieder aufgegriffen wird. Und ihre Haarfarbe ist absolut himmlisch und elfenhaft!

FASHION IN FILM FESTIVAL

If you are in London between 10 - 31 May 2008 you should visit the 2nd "Fashion in Film Festival"! Its theme "If Looks Could Kill: Cinema’s Images of Fashion, Crime and Violence” analyses the relationship between fashion, cinema, crime and violence. The festival conteins movie-screenings at the Tate Modern and talks at the Institue of Contemporary Art.
Anne Smith, Dean of Fashion and Textiles, Central Saint Martins: '... The role of fashion, costume and styling in films spanning a hundred years reveals the special position that fashion holds in locating the drama of life, society and the human experience.'

Falls jemand von euch zwischen dem 10. - 31. Mai 2008 in London sein sollte: Besucht das zweite "Fashion in Film Festival"! Das Thema lautet "If Looks Could Kill: Cinema's Images of Fashion, Crime and Violence" und dementsprechend wird die Beziehung zwischen Mode, Kino, Verbrechen und Gewalt beleuchtet. Das Festival beinhaltet Filmvorführungen in der Tate Modern sowie Vorträge und Diskussionen im Institut für zeitgenössische Kunst. Anne Smith, die Dekanin für Mode und Textilien am Central Saint Martins erklärt dazu: "... MOLLIE GONDI

Every Thursday I meet up with my friends and we watch Germany's Next Topmodel together.We have much fun while commenting on the annoying things going on there.
Although I never watched America's Next Topmodel, I came across Mollie Gondi which attended one of the earlier seasons of ANTM but didn't win. I think she's very beautiful! Look at her eyes and those gorgeous cheekbones! And her haircut is so cute - very 20s!

Jeden Donnerstag treffe ich mich mit einigen Freundinnen um Germany's Topmodel zu schauen. Wir amüsieren uns dabei königlich und regen uns köstlich über die Models-to-be und die Jury auf.
Obwohl ich noch nie America's Next Topmodel gesehen habe, bin ich über Mollie Gondi gestolpert, die in einer früheren Staffel von ANTM dabei war, aber nicht gewonne hat. Ich finde sie großartig! Diese Augen und die wohlgeformten Wangenknochen! Und die kurzen Haare sehen toll bei ihr aus - so 20er Jahre-mäßig.
